KHAN YOUNIS, GAZA, PALESTINE - AUGUST 23, 2025: Palestinian Mohammed Riyad Zannoun, 21, is battling kidney disease as famine and critical shortages of medical supplies deepen under ongoing Israeli blockade of Gaza.
Zannoun, who suffers from partial kidney failure and is living with only half a functioning kidney, is currently receiving treatment at Nasser Hospital in the southern city of Khan Younis. Doctors warn his condition is deteriorating, driven by severe malnutrition and the lack of essential medical resources across the besieged enclave.
Israel has killed nearly 62,300 Palestinians in Gaza since October 2023. The military campaign has devastated the enclave, which is facing famine.
Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
