TEL AVIV - AUGUST 23, 2025: Thousands of people took to the streets of Tel Aviv on Saturday, Aug. 23, calling for an end to Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza.
Around 2,000 demonstrators gathered at Habima Square, carrying banners reading “Stop the Genocide,” “Don’t Kill Children from Gaza to Jenin,” and “Starvation Is a War Crime – Stop It.”
Protesters also held photographs of Israeli hostages held in Gaza and demanded their immediate return.
The UN-backed monitoring body, the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC), reported that as of Aug. 15, famine in Gaza City had been confirmed.
Israel has killed more than 62,600 Palestinians in its ongoing genocide in Gaza since October 2023. The military campaign has devastated the enclave, led to famine, forced migration and spread of disease.
Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
