Phoenix, United States - August 23, 2025 08/23/2025 04:00 am GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz. – Phoenix police and Phoenix Fire Department crews responded to reports of a single vehicle collision requiring extrication at the intersection of Broadway Road and 51st Avenue around 4:00 a.m. (south end of the Salt River bridge). Crews arrived to find a sedan in the landscape on the west side of the intersection. Phoenix Fire Department radio traffic from the incident suggests one unidentified occupant was pronounced deceased at the scene. However, the death has yet to be confirmed by the Phoenix Police Department. The collision resulted in multiple closures. A hard closure was established for 51st Avenue, spanning the north end of the Salt River bridge to approximately Roeser Road. Westbound Broadway Road traffic was being diverted onto northbound 51st Avenue. Eastbound Broadway Road was closed at 51st Avenue.
