US, Phoenix: Phoenix Crash Triggers Hours Long Power Outage

Phoenix, United States - August 23, 2025 08/22/2025 11:50 pm GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz. – An overnight collision left hundreds without power for several hours near the 5800 block of West Indian School Road. Phoenix police and Phoenix Fire Department crews responded to the scene around 11:50 p.m. after a Toyota pickup truck struck a piece of SRP (Salt River Project) infrastructure before crashing into the front wall of a nearby residence. The collision resulted in a power outage affecting hundreds of SRP customers. Phoenix police established a hard closure for Indian School Road spanning 59th Avenue to 55th Avenue while SRP utility crews worked to mitigate the outage. SRP crews remained at the scene throughout the night and into the early morning hours, working diligently to restore power. Power was successfully restored at approximately 5:30 a.m. Related road closures were lifted a short time later.
