This is the shocking moment a pensioner crashed his new electric tricycle on his first attempt at driving the machine.

The young-at-heart 72-year-old ignored his daughter's warnings and treated himself to the gadget.

But lost control of his newly purchased vehicle and smashed it into a wall in Liaoning, China, on August 12.

CCTV footage shows him practising in his home courtyard when he rammed the blue three-wheeler into the barrier twice, knocking it down.

Moments later, he accelerated toward a shed, hitting junk scattered on the ground before finally pulling out.

His daughter, Ms Lyu, stood behind him, watching as her father learned to drive. The pensioner did not sustain any injuries.

Ms. Lyu said: 'I repeatedly told him not to buy the tricycle because of his limited mobility, but he secretly went ahead and purchased it.'

The concerned daughter recalled that her father insisted on buying the vehicle because the autumn harvest was approaching, and he did not want to spend money hiring workers.
