This is the terrifying moment high-rise window cleaners were left hanging when a storm struck as they worked.

Concerned residents spotted the two workers stranded on a gondola lift amid violent winds in Shaanxi, China, on August 20.

Footage shows the suspended platform swinging wildly and crashing against the building, forcing the pair to cling tightly to the cables.

It then begand spinning round as the window cleaners scrambled to have the device lowered.

Local media reported that other construction personnel and fire crews quickly arrived to stabilise the gondola before rescuing the men.

Onlooker Mr Tan said: 'There were people working on it, and then the wind was very strong, so the lift kept hitting the wall. We called the police, and the firefighters came.'

The workers reportedly did not sustain any injuries from the incident. They were brought down without any issues.

China frequently experiences heavy rainfall and storms, especially during the summer monsoon season, with southern and central regions often hit by flash floods and severe downpours.
