China: China's robotics industry charges ahead at full throttle
China - August 25, 2025 Storyline: China's robotics industry charges ahead at full throttle [Voice_over] China's robotics industry has experienced vigorous growth since the beginning of the year, recent data shows. In the first six months of the year, the production of industrial robots and service robots in China increased by more than 35 percent and 25 percent year on year, respectively. Many of those robots are tested here, in a 10-kilometer stretch of south China's Shenzhen City known as Robot Valley. Cutting-edge robotics, tech startups, and top-tier research talent are all located here, facilitating the development and testing of embodied AI robots. [Sound_bite] Yao Qizhi, Dean, Institute for Interdisciplinary Information Sciences and the School of Artificial Intelligence under Tsinghua University: "We can now observe a demonstration of China's overall sci-tech strength across various scenarios. There have been significant improvements in the stability and flexibility of robots." [Voice_over] There are currently some 930,000 robot-related enterprises across the country. A report from Morgan Stanley released earlier this year predicts China's robotics market will grow at an annual rate of 23 percent from 47 billion U.S. dollars last year to 108 billion by 2028.
