At 6 p.m. on 24 August, Hainan’s meteorological department announced that the gale-force wind circle of Typhoon Kajiki (No.13 of this year) had reached Sanya. The Sanya Meteorological Observatory maintained its red typhoon warning.

Under the impact of Kajiki, Sanya was hit by fierce winds and torrential rain. Large trees were uprooted, and residents struggled to walk with umbrellas in the storm. At one hotel, windows were blown out by the gusts, scattering shards of glass, while a sudden power outage left the scene in chaos.

As of 9 a.m. on 25 August 2025, Typhoon Kajiki had affected 102,500 people across Hainan Province, though no fatalities were reported.

Typhoon “Kajiki” is the 13th named storm of the 2025 Pacific typhoon season, with international designation 2513, JTWC number 19W, and called “Isang” by PAGASA in the Philippines. The name, contributed by Japan, means swordfish, and this is the fifth time it has been used.
