Footage shows holidaymakers wandering around the ruins of Durnstein, where King Richard the Lionheart of England was famously held captive.

Tourist Samira Laffan climbed the hill, admiring remnants of the town's medieval past along with scenic views of the Danube River and the village below.

The heritage site still features its rock-made walls, with bushes and greenery growing around the area.

Beneath the slope lies the abbey and the town's houses, with uniform-colored roofs and the 131 ft (40 m) blue Baroque bell tower at the town centre.

The ruins of Durnstein Castle are famously linked to the legend that King Richard the Lionheart was held in the fortress in 1192 upon returning from the Crusades. He was imprisoned by Duke Leopold V of Austria and later handed over to the Holy Roman Emperor.

The town itself, dating back to the Middle Ages, later underwent Baroque-period renovations, allowing visitors to experience a blend of medieval history and ornate architecture.
