This is what a tortoise penetrating his mate looks like
Footage shows the Sulcata tortoise penetrating his partner in their enclosure.
The randy reptile moans in pleasure as he presses gently against his companion in Jakarta, Indonesia, on August 21.
His reproductive organ can be seen gliding gently inside his motionless partner.
Tortoises' mating sessions can last from a few minutes to over an hour, with seemingly rough behaviour being normal. Females can store sperm for weeks or months, allowing a single mating to fertilise multiple future clutches of eggs.
Some species exhibit elaborate courtship behaviours to assert dominance and attract a mate. Interestingly, males can be persistent, sometimes attempting to mate even when the female is not receptive.
