A football fan was rescued with the help of his friends after accidentally getting his head stuck in the stadium railings.

The spectator had poked his head between the bars to have a closer view of the pitch, but then struggled to pull himself back in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

Footage shows the lad gripping the structure as a companion tried to drag him out.

He shifted his head sideways and began to panic when he could not escape.

More friends rushed over to assist until he was finally released, sparking cheers from the group.

Onlooker Fariz Abdillah said: ‘It happened during a match between PSS Sleman and PSPS Riau.

‘He wanted a better look of what was happening below, and he was stuck.'

The lad was unhurt and watched the game with his pals on August 22.
