VADNAIS HEIGHTS, Minn. — A 17-year-old boy was arrested after stealing items from Walmart and leading deputies on a pursuit in a stolen vehicle Saturday morning, the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies located the suspect and the stolen sedan outside the Walmart, but he fled before they could box him in. The teen left the parking lot with more than $70 worth of stolen goods, heading east on County Road E East.

During the pursuit, the suspect swerved into the oncoming lane before losing control and crashing into a sign outside a local business. A deputy maneuvered his squad car into the vehicle to stop further escape attempts, but the suspect fled on foot.

He was caught shortly after when he encountered a fence near Tousley Motor Sports and surrendered to deputies. He is now in custody and awaiting charges.
