Storyline: China embraces peak season for Christmas product export [Voice_over] Christmas may still be a few months away, but the production and shipment of Christmas related decorations from China's Yiwu City, is in full swing. Located in eastern China's Zhejiang Province, Yiwu is known as the world's largest small commodities hub, with holiday decorations being one of their specialties. Officials from Yiwu's chamber of commerce say 85 to 90 percent of the world's Christmas decorations come from Yiwu, and the past two months have been super busy. [Sound_bite] Liu Xiaoqing, merchant, Yiwu International Trade Market: "The factories are extremely busy, working overtime every day until late at night, operating beyond normal capacity. Monthly production output is at least several million yuan." [Voice_over] One merchant at Yiwu, has been selling Christmas ornaments for over 20 years. But this year he used AI to predict market preferences, prompting him to introduce elements like feathers and velvet into the designs. [Sound_bite] Yang Lei, merchant, Yiwu International Trade Market: "If we only use plastic as the material, it's hard to achieve a cohesive look. But by adding softer elements like feathers, along with leaves and balls for a plush texture, the overall effect becomes much richer. We're experimenting with these ideas." [Voice_over] Zhejiang Province exported 1.3 billion U.S. dollars-worth of Christmas products from January to July this year, an annual increase of 23 percent.
