Villages were submerged after torrential rain triggered widespread flooding in Indonesia.

Dramatic footage shows homes engulfed in floodwaters following an intense downpour in Central Kalimantan on August 21.

Local media reported that at least three districts in the province were affected by the freak weather, including Kapuas, Murung Raya, and Gunung Mas.

At least 196 residents from 20 villages were impacted, and seven roads were cut off due to the flooding. The government has already distributed preliminary aid to flood-stricken locals.

Head of the Emergency and Logistics Division of the Central Kalimantan Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Alpius Patanan, said: 'In addition to monitoring and providing logistical assistance for public kitchens in flood-affected villages and sub-districts, the BPBD also cleaned up post-flood village facilities in villages affected by flash floods.'
