Quick-thinking bystanders rescued a pensioner after she fell under a moving train while trying to board it in India.

CCTV footage shows the rail-borne vehicle beginning to depart from Kanpur Railway Station in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, August 24, as several passengers were still climbing aboard.

Mahima Gangwar, 65, also attempted to board the Garib Rath Express 12593 but lost her balance and slipped under the coach.

Locals and railway police rushed to pull her from beneath the moving express.

A later video shows an onlooker helping to extract the woman from under the carriage. She was taken to the hospital for a medical check-up.

Following the incident, authorities urged commuters to exercise caution when boarding or disembarking from moving trains to prevent similar accidents.

On January 13, a pensioner lost her balance and fell while getting off a slow-moving coach from the same station. Railway Protection Force constable S.R. Godara grabbed her hand and pulled her to safety.

The Indian Railways serves as the largest daily traffic transporter in the country, connecting various regions of India through its extensive network.

With an average of more than 12,817 trains running daily, it plays a crucial role in transporting around 24 million passengers nationwide.

However, the country's large population and underdeveloped infrastructure in some regions often lead to overcrowded coaches and chaotic travel conditions.
