VARIOUS OF TIRES BURNING, THICK BLACK SMOKE RISING / CARS PASSING BY / PROTESTERS BLOCKING TEL AVIV'S ROUTE 4 TEL AVIV, ISRAEL - AUG. 26, 2025: Israelis staged a protest in Tel Aviv on Tuesday, Aug. 26, blocking major roads to demand a ceasefire in Gaza and the release of Israeli hostages held in the blockaded enclave. Protesters carried placards and blocked Route 4 in Tel Aviv, urging the government to reach a deal for the hostages’ release. Some demonstrators also set tires on fire while closing roads to traffic. Israel estimates Hamas holds 50 hostages, including 20 alive, while Tel Aviv detains over 10,800 Palestinians, amid rights groups’ reports of torture and medical neglect. Last week, Netanyahu ordered immediate negotiations for the release of all hostages while continuing plans to occupy Gaza City and relocate its residents. Israel has killed more than 62,700 Palestinians in Gaza since October 2023. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
