British pensioner, 71, stabbed by wife during argument in Bali
A British pensioner was left fighting for his life after allegedly being stabbed by his wife during an argument in Bali.
John Albert Woodacre, 71, was found bleeding heavily on the terrace of his hotel room in Sanur Kauh, South Denpasar, on Friday evening.
The pensioner was locked in a heated row with his wife when she allegedly snapped and launched the frenzied knife attack. She said he was fed up with their constant fighting.
Footage shows the Brit lying deathly pale on the floor stained with puddles of blood, while another man tried to stem the heavy bleeding. He had suffered multiple stab wounds to his neck, waist, and thigh, but reportedly remained conscious despite his injuries.
Emergency crews from the Denpasar Disaster Management Agency arrived at the hotel bloodbath to give first aid before rushing John to the Bali Mandara Hospital, where he remains in intensive care.
AKP I Ketut Sukadi, Denpasar Police spokesman, said: 'From witness statements, the couple often argued. This incident was purely a domestic matter between husband and wife. Unexpectedly, the wife stabbed her husband multiple times after the argument.
'The victim is currently receiving intensive care. If there are any developments, we will report them to the media.'
South Denpasar Police Chief AKP Agus Adi Apriyoga added: 'The victim is conscious. The surgeon is currently observing him and cleaning the wound in the operating room.'
Police have not clarified the exact motive for the alleged attack. They have also not released the identity or legal status of the wife, but said investigations were ongoing.
