Whopping king cobra found curled up beside family's bed
This is the terrifying moment a whopping king cobra was found curled up beside a family's bed.
Residents discovered the venomous snake lounging inside one of their bedrooms in Surat Thani, Thailand.
Frightened locals piled in to see and called the emergency services, who sent a herpetology unit to remove the serpent from the house on August 23.
Footage shows the 10ft (3m) king cobra lounging on the floor while staring at the doorway.
Moments later, the snake wrangler, cornering the 1.26st (8kg) serpent, used a hook pole to grab its tail, causing the threatened animal to lunge forward.
However, the unfazed rescuer immediately grasped its neck and dragged it away from the room while frantic women screamed nearby.
They then restrained the snake outside and measured it before releasing it back into the wild at Khao Khiao National Park.
No one was reportedly harmed during the encounter.
A king cobra's venom can kill up to 20 people, or an elephant, in a single bite. Its venom affects the respiratory centres in the brain, causing respiratory arrest and cardiac failure.
