Utah Trooper Stops Wrong-Way Driver on I-15 in Utah County
UTAH COUNTY, Utah — A Utah Highway Patrol sergeant stopped a wrong-way driver on Interstate 15 after multiple 911 calls reported the vehicle, officials said.
The incident happened when Sgt. Ball located the driver traveling the wrong direction on the emergency shoulder. He intervened, and both vehicles were disabled in the crash. Sgt. Ball suffered only minor injuries, and no other serious injuries were reported.
Troopers said the driver, an elderly individual, was confused and unaware of the danger. Authorities reminded families to talk with older relatives about driving abilities, noting that recognizing signs of confusion or difficulty navigating could help prevent future tragedies.
