The strike hit the Al-Shurbaji family home, which is situated adjacent to a local market. The area, frequently used by displaced Palestinians to purchase basic necessities, is designated as a "safe zone" by the Israeli military.
Witnesses reported that the bombing ignited massive fires that spread rapidly through crowds of displaced individuals and dozens of surrounding tents. Civil defense teams faced significant challenges in reaching the area to extinguish the flames and assist the wounded.
The latest figures from the Gaza Health Ministry, reported on Tuesday, state that at least 62,819 Palestinians have been killed since the war began in October 2023. Within the last 24 hours, 75 people were killed and 370 others were injured, bringing the total number of injuries to 158,629.
The ministry also reported three new fatalities due to starvation and malnutrition, two of whom were children. This raises the total number of famine-related deaths to 303, including 117 children.
