A Russian man was stunned after witnessing a spider catch a praying mantis on his window.

Jasper spotted the hapless insect trapped in the arachnid's web in Saratov Oblast, Russia.

Footage shows the prey dangling in midair, with the eight-legged spider just a few inches above it on August 7.

Spiders are carnivorous, feeding primarily on insects and other small arthropods, and they employ different hunting strategies.

Web-building spiders trap prey in sticky webs, while hunting spiders actively chase or ambush their targets, often injecting digestive enzymes to liquefy their food.
