Trucks navigate narrow mountain road that collapsed in landslide
This is the heart-stopping moment trucks navigate a mountain road damaged by a landslide in Laos.
Footage captures two heavy vehicles cautiously making their way along a tight pass in Yot Lieng Village, Kham District, Xieng Khouang Province.
An emergency worker is seen guiding the drivers as other motorists wait in a queue on the opposite lane.
The two trucks managed to cross the affected zone safely on August 25.
Local media reported that the area was hit by heavy rainfall from Typhoon Kajiki, that triggered instability on the mountain slope.
Authorities urged motorists to exercise extra vigilance while travelling through such unstable routes.
Kajiki made landfall in Vietnam on Monday, leaving at least seven people dead, one missing, and 34 others injured. Officials said more than 7,000 homes have been damaged during the storm.
In Thailand, a landslide triggered by the storm killed at least two people.
The weather system has since crossed into Laos and weakened into a tropical depression, with wind speeds of up to 55mph.
Authorities warned that the freak weather is also expected to affect northern Thailand, eastern Cambodia, and central Myanmar.
