US, Los Angeles: Stevenson Ranch Injured Hiker Rescued by Helicopter Rushed to Trauma Center

Los Angeles, United States - August 27, 2025 08/26/2025 07:07 pm GMT-0700 STEVENSON RANCH, Calif. – A hiker is recovering in a hospital after being airlifted to safety from the hills above Stevenson Ranch Tuesday evening. The incident unfolded shortly after 7 p.m. in the rugged terrain above the 26500 block of Pico Canyon Road. According to emergency radio traffic, 911 dispatchers received a call reporting that a hiker had become injured and was unable to make it out of the area. The Santa Clarita Valley Search and Rescue team responded alongside Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel. Copter 19 from the department’s Air Operations Section was called in to assist. Firefighters and rescuers hoisted the hiker into the helicopter, which, by 8:09 p.m., flew the patient to a nearby makeshift landing zone at Jake Kuredjian Park, next to Pico Canyon Elementary School. From there, the hiker was transferred into an ambulance and rushed to a trauma center. The hiker’s exact injuries and condition remain unknown. No further details were available as of 9 p.m.
