Protesters carried Palestinian flags and banners reading “Sanctions against Israel and swift justice” and “Stop the massacre of journalists in Gaza.” Participants held plastic skeletons to symbolize famine victims, small shrouds to represent Palestinian babies killed, and olive branches with two white doves as a sign of peace. They also called for humanitarian aid access to Gaza, a boycott of brands supporting Israel, and an end to the killing of Palestinian journalists. The latest deaths raised the number of journalists killed in Gaza since October 2023 to 246, according to Gaza’s Government Media Office. Israel has killed nearly 63,000 Palestinians in Gaza since October 2023. The military campaign has devastated the enclave, which is facing famine. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
