FUNERAL PRAYER BEING PERFORMED FOR KILLED JOURNALISTSLONDON, UK - AUG. 27: Members of the UK’s National Union of Journalists (NUJ) gathered outside Downing Street on Wednesday, Aug. 27, to honor journalists killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza. At least 20 people, including journalists and a firefighter, were killed in the strike on the hospital in Khan Younis on Monday according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. Among those killed were journalists Hussam al-Masri of Reuters, Mohammad Salama of Al Jazeera, Mariam Abu Dagga, a visual freelance journalist for The Associated Press, Moaz Abu Taha, Ahmed Abu Aziz and Hassan Douhan. The latest deaths raised the number of journalists killed in Gaza since October 2023 to 246, according to Gaza’s Government Media Office. Israel has killed nearly 63,000 Palestinians in Gaza since October 2023. The military campaign has devastated the enclave, which is facing famine. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
