The Palestinian death toll in the Gaza Strip has risen to 62,895, with 158,927 others injured since the conflict between Hamas and Israel erupted on October 7, 2023, Gaza's health authorities said in a statement on Wednesday. Over the past 24 hours, Israeli attacks killed 76 people in Gaza and injured 298 others, according to the statement. Eighteen people were killed and 106 injured while seeking food at aid distribution sites in the past 24 hours, the statement said. Since Israel ended a two-month ceasefire with Hamas and resumed attacks on Gaza on March 18 of this year, 11,050 Palestinians have been killed and 46,886 others wounded, the statement added. Hospitals in Gaza recorded 10 more deaths due to famine and malnutrition over the past 24 hours, health officials said. Since the Israeli blockade of the enclave began in March, 313 people, including 119 children, have died from conditions linked to malnutrition, the health authorities said. The Hamas-run Gaza government media office said in a statement on Wednesday that only 14 percent of essential food and aid had entered Gaza in the past month, as Israel continues to choke supplies and drive a deepening famine under a systematic starvation policy against the enclave's population. The Israeli forces have closed all border crossings and banned the entry of 430 critical food items, leaving an 86 percent shortfall in aid, the statement said.
