US: Pregnant Vermont Fugitive Tries To Flee While Handcuffed
Orlando, United States - August 18, 2025 A 27-year-old pregnant Vermont woman was arrested in Flagler County on August 18 after deputies say she attempted to steal from a Palm Coast smoke shop and then tried to flee while handcuffed. The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office reported that Taylor Crowningshield led deputies on a chase starting outside Galaxy One Smoke Shop and ending at her residence on Bressler Lane. Crowningshield had been wanted in Vermont since May 2024 for robbery, assault, and probation violations. Deputies said Crowningshield ignored commands to stop, fled in her car, resisted arrest, and later tried to run from a patrol vehicle while handcuffed before being recaptured. She was booked at the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility on her Vermont fugitive warrant and local charges including fleeing and attempting to elude law enforcement, resisting arrest without violence, and attempted escape. Sheriff Rick Staly credited the teamwork between local deputies, the Real Time Crime Center, and Vermont law enforcement for the capture. “This woman was a fugitive and made the mistake of coming to Flagler County and then tried to steal from a local business. However, she quickly learned that only gets you taken to jail,” Staly said. Crowningshield is being held without bond pending extradition to Vermont.
