Streets turned into rivers as Typhoon Kajiki swept through the capital, yet motorcyclists were still seen pushing forward through the floodwaters.

Footage recorded by Jennifer Evans shows riders navigating their motorcycles through deep, muddy water, engines nearly submerged as they forced their way against the current. The striking images reveal daily life continuing in the middle of the storm’s chaos.

Typhoon Kajiki left devastation across the region, claiming at least three lives and injuring 10 others. Nearly 7,000 homes were damaged, and 28,800 hectares of rice fields were submerged.

The storm also brought down 18,000 trees, worsening the damage and creating new dangers for those moving through the flood-stricken city.

In Hanoi, West Lake spilled into surrounding neighborhoods, pushing more water into residential zones where motorcycles were still seen traveling along submerged roads.

The storm struck as the city was preparing for Vietnam’s National Day parade, compounding the disruption and laying bare the force of the typhoon on the capital.
