A Buddhist temple was swamped by flash floods as Typhoon Kajiki lashed northern Thailand.

Footage shows the muddy torrent surging near the Wat Tham Pha Mon temple in Mae Hong Son province on August 26.

A monk's living quarters nearly tipped over into the deluge as the raging flood eroded its foundation.

Soldiers and disaster response crews arrived to help the monks evacuate the area.

Officials said at least four people were killed and five were missing after the storm triggered landslides in the region.

Vietnam has recently been battered by Typhoon Kajiki, which made landfall on Monday, leaving at least seven people dead, one missing, and 34 others injured. Officials said more than 7,000 homes were damaged during the storm.

On August 27, the Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) said Kajiki had weakened into a low-pressure system over northern Thailand. Despite the storm's dissipation, heavy rainfall was expected to continue in the region for at least two days.
