Watch the dramatic moment a soaking wet man is escorted away from the Trevi Fountain by police - after he jumped into the iconic Italian tourist attraction.

Lukas Vöhser Falcón, 18, visited Trevi Fountain in Rome on July 27 while on a holiday travelling around Europe with a group of friends.

But as they gazed at the iconic landmark they spotted a rogue man jump into the fountain - despite strict rules against entering the water.

Lukas, originally from San Agustín, Gran Canaria, captured the moment several police officers approached the rogue tourist.

Hundreds of tourists admiring the iconic fountain watched on as the man was escorted away from the scene.

Lukas, a mechanical engineering student, said: "Our last stops were Rome and the Amalfi Coast."

"I was recording a video of the fountain and I saw the man jump in."

"I think he just did it for fun - but five seconds later the police came and took him."

"I don't know where - I guess he went to the station."

"Everyone was so surprised when it happened."
