Drone breaches security at Bodh Gaya Mahabodhi temple
In a security lapse, a drone allegedly fell into the premises of Bodh Gaya Temple Management Committee (BMTC) office, a few metres away from the world-famous Mahabodhi temple, on Wednesday. Later, it was found that the drone was being flown by a temple priest, sources said.
Soon after, a Buddhist monk, priest of Mahabodhi Temple, reached there and told that the drone was his, which he was flying in the premises.
Whereas as per rules, flying drones is strictly prohibited in the surrounding areas including Mahabodhi Temple and BTMC office premises.
This created an atmosphere of chaos for some time. The Police employees present there were shocked by this sudden incident and started trying to find out where the drone came from in the restricted area.
The Mahabodhi Temple of Bodh Gaya is included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. It is a major pilgrimage site for the followers of Buddhism.Thousands of devotees and tourists from India and abroad come here every day. There was a terrorist attack on this temple in the year 2013. After this, the security arrangements here were tightened.
