China: Chinese tourists flood coastal cities for seaside holiday fun
Storyline: Chinese tourists flood coastal cities for seaside holiday fun [Voice_over] In the coastal city of Rizhao in east China's Shandong Province, low tide means high excitement for tourists from across the country. Every morning, as the water recedes, tourists swarm the beaches with buckets and shovels in hand, ready a hunt for small marine animals like clams and crabs. Locals, meanwhile, act as tourist guides, leading the way to the tidal flats offering up tips to make the most of the experience. [Sound_bite] Ma Pengcheng, tourist: "We took a family trip to Rizhao this time. We didn't expect to catch so many little crabs, clams, and oysters this morning. Everyone is thrilled and it is a great haul!" [Voice_over] After harvesting their seafood, tourists return to their hotels or homestays via a shuttle train that's equipped with refrigerated compartments to store their haul. Back at their lodging, tourists can observe local chefs to learn how to cook their seafood. [Sound_bite] Yang Ming, tourist: "We came here from Wuhan. The chefs showed us how to prepare and handle the seafood. The kids have learned a lot and had a lot of fun." [Voice_over] With the perfect blend of adventure and local flavor, a trip to the coast has become a popular vacation choice for Chinese families this summer.
