Paramedics sing to calm distressed patient in ambulance
This is the heartwarming moment two teenage paramedics sang songs to calm down a distressed patient in an ambulance.
Volunteers Anuwat Chiphimai and Nopparut Ninkhonburi, both 16, sang popular tunes to soothe the man being rushed to a hospital in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, on August 25.
The rescue team were alerted at around 8 pm local time when he went on a rampage and could not be calmed, sparking fears he might become violent.
The patient was eventually convinced to step into the ambulance, where he was strapped onto a stretcher on the way to Nakhon Ratchasima Rajanagarindra Psychiatric Hospital.
However, he suddenly started thrashing around during the trip, prompting rescue workers to think of ways to calm him down.
Footage shows officers singing and clapping before inviting the patient to join the chorus. He soon took the lead, belting out songs until the ambulance arrived at the hospital.
Anuwat said: ‘The residents were shouting loudly for the police. We took him into the vehicle and he was praying at first. He was shaking and upset.
'After that, we sang for him. He felt better and started smiling. He was only dangerous at first but then he calmed down.'
