PROTESTOR, ZEYNEP SARKIYYE SPEAKING TO REPORTER (Arabic)SIDON, LEBANON - AUG. 28, 2025: A symbolic demonstration in solidarity with Gaza was held on Thursday, Aug. 28, in Sidon, Lebanon. At the demonstration held on the coastal road of Sidon, the Lebanese people expressed their solidarity with Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque, demanding an end to the war in Gaza and the genocide. The protesters highlighted the suffering in Gaza by placing symbolic coffins on the ground and holding up photographs of victims, drawing attention to the war, hunger, occupation, and severe humanitarian conditions. Israel has killed nearly 63,000 Palestinians in Gaza since October 2023. The military campaign has devastated the enclave, which is facing famine. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
