Floods submerged roads after Typhoon Kajiki unleashed heavy rain in central Thailand.

Communities were left underwater from the Yom River, which burst its banks in Sukhothai province on August 28.

Footage shows the swollen river surging against the sandbag-reinforced embankment.

Water levels dropped slightly today, August 29, as authorities carried out relief efforts.

Phatsorn Donpimpa, mayor of Sukhothai province, said she has ordered rescue workers to evacuate residents in low-lying areas.

Officials said six people have been killed and three were missing from landslides triggered by Typhoon Kajiki in northern Thailand.

Vietnam has recently been battered by the storm, which made landfall on Monday, leaving at least seven people dead, one missing, and 34 others injured. Officials said more than 7,000 homes were damaged during the storm.

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) said Kajiki had weakened into a low-pressure system over northern Thailand on Wednesday. Despite its dissipation, heavy rainfall was expected to continue in the region for at least two days.
