The death toll from landslides caused by Typhoon Kajiki has risen to six after two more bodies were found under debris in northern Thailand.

Officers recovered two casualties - a man and a woman - as rescue efforts continued in Chiang Mai province on August 28.

Footage shows volunteers with cutting equipment and heavy machinery clearing away mud and debris from the stricken community.

Siwakorn Buapong, Chiang Mai deputy governor, said six were killed and three others missing, while 24 were injured as 157 homes were destroyed in the province.

Governor Thotsapol Phueanudom said generators will be installed while the local electricity supply is being repaired.

He said :'A mobile kitchen is also providing food to the residents. The efforts to assess the full extent of the damage are ongoing to facilitate aid distribution.'

Vietnam has also recently been battered by Typhoon Kajiki, which made landfall on Monday, leaving at least seven people dead, one missing, and 34 others injured. Officials said more than 7,000 homes were damaged during the storm.

The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) said Kajiki had weakened into a low-pressure system over northern Thailand on Wednesday. Despite its dissipation, heavy rainfall was expected to continue in the region for at least two days.
