A heartwarming video shows the moment a couple hatched a chicken egg at home for the first time.

Rueben Parr, 40, and his partner Lucy Devey, 30, were attempting to hatch their own chickens in an incubator at home in Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire.

On the evening of August 23 2025, the couple were lying in bed when they began to hearing a "tweeting" sound. "

Rueben, a ground worker, immediately jumped out of bed to have a look at the incubator in the corner of the room.

In the funny clip, Rueben can be seen inspecting the egg and excitedly exclaiming "it's cracking", as a tiny chicken appears breaking out of the shell."



Lucy captured the video which has now been viewed over 24,000 times on TikTok.

Lucy, a carer, from Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, said: "We heard the tweeting and instantly knew it was a chick hatching."

"That's why he was so excited as we didn't think it would work."

"I couldn't breathe with laughter. "

"He's always been a little extra - a big kid."
