Tourists spotted a few strange-looking "blue blobs" washed up on a beach in Galveston, Texas.

It turns out these marine animals are known as a Portuguese man o' war and they have a powerful sting that can be fatal for humans.

The filmer said: "Walking along the beach in Galveston Island State Park, we saw multiple blue blobs washed ashore, some still moving. With some research, we discovered they are Portuguese Man O’War and float on the water for miles.

"They are not jellyfish, but resemble them. We did not touch any, but appreciated their beautiful colours. It was a great learning opportunity for my kids to wear shoes on the beach & to learn about sea life we were not familiar with."
