China: Latest achievements in AI applications wow visitors at Big Data Expo
Storyline: The newest artificial intelligence (AI) and big-data breakthroughs are dazzling visitors at the ongoing 2025 China International Big Data Industry Expo in Guiyang, capital of southwest China's Guizhou Province. Themed "Data Drives Industrial Momentum, Intelligence Unlocks the Future," this year's expo runs from Thursday to Saturday. The three-day event features six pavilions -- digital intelligence navigation, infrastructure, services, applications, innovation and experience, spotlighting the latest tech, products and solutions in the digital economy. At the exhibition, humanoid robots, robotic dogs, and robotic arms powered by big-data models and AI technology have caught much attention. "Wearing this robotic arm, I can perform some daily tasks, such as helping my family harvest wheat and pick corn in the countryside. I just got my driver's license this year, by using it to assist in driving," said Jiang, a robotic arm user. "This type of robotic dog can be used in firefighting scenarios. By learning indicators of fire hazards, such as toxic gases and temperature level, they can enter dangerous situations before firefighters, and make autonomous judgments and convey them to firefighters," said Ge Hao, a robotic dog engineer. More than 60 percent of the digital economy-related products and services are related to "AI Plus" initiative at this year's expo. In the government work report last year, China unveiled an "AI Plus" initiative, a strategic move designed to propel the digital economy's expansion and spearhead the transformation and modernization of manufacturing sectors. "Since the launch of the 'AI Plus' initiative, flocks of industrial service providers have offered to join them, which is a great change. It's about how AI technology can be combined with new specific scenarios in consumption and production, and how to use data to better serve the AI industry," said Ma Long, an exhibitor. The 2025 Big Data Expo, the 11th edition of the annual event, has drawn more than 16,000 attendees and 375 firms from China and abroad. Since its 2015 debut, the event has become a premiere global gathering for industry leaders. Shotlist: Guiyang City, Guizhou Province, southwest China - Aug 28-29, 2025: 1.
