US, Los Angeles: Boyle Heights Sparks Fly As Pursuit Suspect Flees From CHP

Los Angeles, United States - August 29, 2025 08/29/2025 01:00 am GMT-0700 BOYLE HEIGHTS, LOS ANGELES, Calif. – California Highway Patrol officers initiated a pursuit believed to have originated in Orange County. The suspect drove north on the 405 Freeway, transitioned to the 605, and then entered the 5 Freeway. As the chase continued, officers deployed a spike strip near the intersection of the 710 and 5 freeways. The suspect continued north on the 5 at slow speeds before merging onto the 101 North. The pursuit concluded when the suspect stopped on the 101 near 1st Street and fled the vehicle on foot. The suspect jumped the center median and ran across the southbound lanes of the 101, while CHP's air unit tracked the chase from above. Eventually, the suspect entered the basement of a residence near the intersection of 3rd Street and Pecan Street. Officers surrounded the area and successfully apprehended the man. It is believed he was armed and dangerous, although it remains unclear whether a firearm was located in the vehicle. No further details were immediately available.
