PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — A driver was arrested after nearly striking officers working at a crash scene, police said.

According to Port St. Lucie police, multiple officers and marked patrol cars with emergency lights were blocking the roadway when the driver swerved dangerously close. Body-worn camera footage showed the near miss as officers worked to keep the area safe.

The driver, found to be under the influence, was arrested and transported to the St. Lucie County Jail. Police reminded the public about Florida’s Move Over Law, which requires motorists to change lanes or slow down when approaching stopped emergency or service vehicles.

Officials emphasized that the law helps protect first responders and roadway workers. “We want everyone to go home safely,” the department said in a statement.
