Preparations for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit 2025 have been fully completed, according to a press conference held Friday in Tianjin Municipality, the host city for the event. The SCO Summit 2025 will be held from August 31 to September 1, with leaders from more than 20 countries and heads of 10 international organizations set to attend. According to officials speaking at the press conference, Tianjin has upgraded the main venue and arranged comprehensive support in reception, accommodation, transportation, catering, medical services and translation, with a total of 998 student volunteers selected to assist the running of the summit. Officials at the press conference also highlighted the city's growing cooperation with SCO member states. From January to July this year, Tianjin's trade with SCO countries reached 53.37 billion yuan (about 7.46 billion U.S. dollars), up 5.2 percent year on year. Over the past decade, the city has pioneered the "Luban Workshop" program for vocational education partnerships, with 10 facilities already established in eight SCO countries, including Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. Tianjin has also worked with SCO partners in areas such as smart cities, industrial digital transformation and cross-border e-commerce, taking advantage of the city's position as a national leader in computing power. In total, the city's intelligent computing capacity exceeds 10,000 petaflops, and supercomputing accounts for 20 percent of China's total.
