Los Angeles, United States - August 29, 2025 08/28/2025 10:45 pm GMT-0700 VERMONT KNOLLS, LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's South Los Angeles Station initiated a pursuit of a reckless driver Thursday evening near the intersection of Vermont Avenue and the 105 Freeway. The vehicle was identified as a gray Hyundai Genesis with paper plates. The suspect fled through the southern area for an extended period before reaching Century Boulevard and the 110 Freeway. The driver exited and accelerated at a high rate of speed along Figueroa Street. The pursuit intensified when the suspect crashed into a white Nissan SUV at the intersection of 83rd Street and Figueroa. The impact caused the gray Genesis to crash into a fence of an adjacent apartment complex. The occupants of the Genesis abandoned their vehicle and escaped on foot, then jumped into a white Mercedes sedan, which then fled the scene. Emergency services from the Los Angeles Fire Department were requested to evaluate the driver of the Nissan. Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department pursued the suspects in the Mercedes into the West Los Angeles area. During the pursuit, an LAPD patrol car was involved in a crash near the intersection of Manchester Avenue and Sepulveda Boulevard. Despite the efforts to apprehend them, the suspects managed to evade capture. A short time later, the LAPD received a report from a citizen who identified the white Mercedes parked near Sepulveda Boulevard and Rose Street. Officers responded and found the vehicle abandoned. While at the scene, three men approached the officers, claiming ownership of the Mercedes and stating it had been stolen several days prior; however, they had not filed a theft report. LAPD officers spoke with the three men, and at this time, the suspects remain at large.
