US, Los Angeles: Malibu Police Chase Ends in Crash With Children in Stolen Vehicle
Los Angeles, United States - August 30, 2025 08/29/2025 07:00 pm GMT-0700 MALIBU, Calif. – A police chase that began with a stolen vehicle containing three children concluded in a violent crash on the Pacific Coast Highway near Malibu Friday evening. The incident began shortly before 7 p.m. when the vehicle was taken in East Los Angeles. Officers with the California Highway Patrol initiated a pursuit as the suspect drove through Santa Monica and onto the Pacific Coast Highway. The chase started slowly, but escalated after the suspect struck a spike strip, prompting him to accelerate and drive erratically. Around 7:35 p.m., the chase ended when the suspect collided with another vehicle near Point Dume Road, resulting in a multi-vehicle crash. After the collision, the suspect fled on foot, running up an embankment into a field. He navigated through wooded terrain, jumped over several backyards, and climbed over a barbed-wire fence. Meanwhile, authorities focused on assisting the three children in the stolen vehicle—two older children and a small child secured in a car seat. All three were conscious and breathing and were transported to a hospital. Two additional individuals in the vehicle struck by the suspect were also treated for injuries. Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies apprehended the shirtless suspect in a nearby Malibu neighborhood by 7:50 p.m.
