GAZA, PALESTINE - AUGUST 29, 2025: Hospitals across the Gaza Strip are grappling with severe blood shortages as Israel’s ongoing genocide and blockade push the enclave’s health system to the brink.

Since October 7, 2023, relentless Israeli attacks have caused a sharp rise in casualties, driving unprecedented demand for blood transfusions. Donations, however, remain far below what is needed. Medical experts say the shortage stems not only from the overwhelming number of wounded and the difficulty Palestinians face reaching hospitals under siege conditions, but also from widespread malnutrition caused by Israel’s starvation policy.

The Gaza Ministry of Health has issued repeated appeals for urgent blood donations, warning that the shortage is endangering the lives of countless patients and war-wounded civilians.

Gaza is suffering from a severe humanitarian crisis as a result of ongoing Israeli attacks and a tight blockade that limits humanitarian aid. Shortages of food, water, medicine, and hygiene supplies exacerbate the population's suffering.

The ministry also stated that 332 Palestinians, including 124 children, have died from malnutrition caused by the choking Israeli blockade on the Gaza Strip.

Israel has killed more than 63,000 Palestinians in Gaza since October 2023. The military campaign has devastated the enclave, which is facing famine.

Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
