Protesters in front of the West Sumatra Regional Police Headquarters tore down the entrance fence.
Hundreds of students from various universities in Padang, West Sumatra, held a demonstration in front of the West Sumatra Regional Police Headquarters on Friday afternoon (August 29, 2025). As of 7:10 PM WIB (Western Indonesian Time), the crowd remained standing, waiting for the West Sumatra Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Gatot Tri Suryanta, to meet them. DetikSumut's monitoring at the location revealed that the crowd carried several banners condemning the National Police (Polri), following the murder of an online motorcycle taxi (ojol) driver in Jakarta yesterday. "Polri Kills the People," "Now it's an online motorcycle taxi (ojol), tomorrow it could be us," "Silenced, Oppressed, Run Over..." were among the banners carried by the crowd. In addition to the banners containing criticism, the crowd also carried several One Piece flags. Besides students, the crowd also included online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers. The demonstration, which began around 4:10 PM WIB, became chaotic when the crowd forced its way through the Polda Headquarters gate.
