VISUALLY IMPAIRED SWEDISH ACTIVIST AND JOURNALIST JONAS SERNEHOLT SPEAKING TO REPORTER (Swedish) STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN - AUG. 30: Hundreds of people staged a demonstration in Sweden’s capital on Saturday, Aug. 30, to protest Israel's starvation policy in Gaza and its targeting of journalists. Responding to calls from numerous nongovernmental organizations, the demonstrators gathered at Odenplan Square in Stockholm, carrying symbolic coffins and photos of journalists killed in Israeli attacks on Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, on Aug. 25. Protesters held banners reading, “Children and civilians in Palestine are dying of hunger,” “Freedom for Palestine, no to (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu and (Donald) Trump’s plan,” “Journalism is not a crime,” “Journalists are not targets” and “Stop killing journalists,” before marching to the Swedish Foreign Ministry. Swedish activist and journalist Jonas Serneholt, who is visually impaired, told an Anadolu that he has been taking part in anti-Israel demonstrations in Stockholm every Saturday for nearly two years. Serneholt said what is happening across Palestine amounts to ethnic cleansing and genocide, and that Netanyahu’s deliberate killing of health workers and journalists covering the suffering in the area is unacceptable. He added that he has no words for Netanyahu killing his colleagues and described the act as fascism. Writing by Ayse Elif Erdis
