China has actively promoted people-to-people diplomacy and friendship among the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states and achieved fruitful results, said an official at a press conference in the northern Chinese port city of Tianjin on Saturday. Zuo Hongbo, secretary general of the Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation Commission of the SCO, said at the special press conference for the upcoming SCO Summit 2025 that the commission has put forward a series of initiatives on traditional medicine and medical innovation, women's development, friendly cities, youth sci-tech innovation, poverty reduction, sustainable development and other subjects, and has continuously expanded the scale of people's friendship and cooperation through rich and colorful activities. Through increasingly closer cultural exchanges and cooperation, the SCO's ever-growing public opinion foundation is becoming more and more solid, and the strength to build an SCO community with a shared future is getting ever more popular, according to Zuo. The SCO Summit 2025, scheduled for Aug 31 to Sept 1, will be the largest in the organization's history, with more than 20 foreign leaders and 10 heads of international organizations expected to attend.
