The Health Ministry said hospitals in Khan Younis are overwhelmed with children suffering from bronchitis and flu complications, with some patients forced to lie on the floor due to overcrowding.

Doctors stressed that lack of nutrition and medicine has left children unable to fight infections, while poor sanitation, lack of clean water, and mass displacement are accelerating the spread of the virus.

Local authorities reported that thousands of cases have been recorded across the enclave, with infections rising daily among children, the elderly, and the chronically ill.

Officials said Gaza’s few remaining hospitals are critically short of supplies and staff, able to provide only basic care as Israel bans dozens of essential medicines and prevents humanitarian deliveries.

Israel has killed nearly 63,500 Palestinians in Gaza since October 2023. The military campaign has devastated the enclave, which is facing famine.

Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
