Los Angeles, United States - August 31, 2025 08/31/2025 01:10 am GMT-0700 JEFFERSON PARK, LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Los Angeles Police Department's Southwest Division units reported shots fired in the area of 9th Avenue and Jefferson Boulevard. The incident began when officers encountered an armed suspect at the location. There was an exchange of gunfire between the suspect and the officers. The suspect was struck but was able to flee on foot, according to the LAPD. Officers engaged in a foot pursuit of the suspect, who fled into an occupied laundromat, where they lost sight of him. A perimeter was established in the area, and officers later located the suspect about two blocks away, on 7th Avenue, where he was taken into custody by the responding police unit, according to the LAPD. Los Angeles Fire Department personnel arrived at the scene and transported the suspect to a local hospital. The LAPD reported that his condition is stable. The LAPD reported that no officers were injured, and the suspect's firearm was at the scene.
